History:
Greater Valley Group incorporated in 2006 with the specific purpose of focused local development in the communities near Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG). Greater Valley Group’s geographic focus has expanded over time, but remains focused on quality regional development. Greater Valley Group has over $100 million in real estate related projects underway.
In April 2006, KIA Motors announced they would build their first ever production plant in the United States. This state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing facility will employ 2,800 workers and produce 300,000 units annually at full capacity. Kia suppliers will produce an additional 5,000 jobs. Four major suppliers are co-located with Kia on the main Kia campus in West Point, Georgia. Five additional suppliers are nine miles away in the Cusseta Industrial Park in Chambers County, Alabama. Multiple suppliers have chosen locations in the counties surrounding KMMG. The promise of suppliers and jobs is a reality. Between KIA and the suppliers in place, over 3,100 new jobs are already generating payroll in the Greater Valley Area.
Greater Valley Group is an affiliate of ITC Holding Company established in 1896 as the first-ever Interstate Telephone Company. ITC Holding is a privately owned firm with an impressive legacy of success in Telecommunications, Information Technology and Financial Services investment. Successes include: Telecom*USA, which was acquired by MCI; HeadHunter.net which was sold to CareerBuilder.com; Mindspring which merged with Earthlink and PowerTel, which was acquired by Deutsche Telecom and is now known as T-Mobile. Other investments and start-ups include: ITCDeltaCom [NASDQ: ITCD], Knology [NASDQ: KNOL] and Intercall.
